There are two main types of filing cabinets. There is the vertical file cabinet. Then, there is the lateral file cabinet. Vertical file cabinets are those cabinets in an upright position. It has about two to five drawers. The lateral file cabinets are those cabinets that have drawers with widths ranging from 30 to 42 inches. Vertical cabinets have narrower drawers compared to the lateral file cabinets. Vertical cabinets are also taller than lateral cabinets.
