With computer usage so high in this age, we are seeing a need for appropriately designed furniture that best suits the needs and style of your home or office. But which computer desk is right you? With so many options to choose from, it could be a difficult question to answer. This article details the different types of computer desks, and factors to consider when purchasing one. After reading this article, making your decision as to which desk to purchase should be a simple and fun experience.
A corner desk is placed in the corner. Generally it is not placed in the middle of the room. The free design is the simple rectangle desk that you can place anywhere you wish. It gives you more flexibility. In future, if you want to rearrange furniture and belongings in the room then you can place such a desk at a different place. The corner desk can be L-shaped or I-shaped design. If you choose a corner desk then it should have sufficient width. It is difficult to spread your legs further if a corner desk has a small width. It can put strain on your legs and body if occasionally you cannot stretch your feet in front on the floor.
Choosing the size and shape of your desk should be a consideration of personal style - how do you want your office to look - with a practical consideration of the space available - how many desks do I need in the office? If you are constricted by space, many compact design office desks are widely available. Rectangular bench desks offer an excellent space-saving design coupled with shared structural components to reduce costs. Call centre pods, usually in circular clusters of between four and eight desks are another compact, space-saving option. If you have more space, ergonomic shaped desks such as single wave, double wave and radial - or crescent - desks provide a stylish office look with plenty of desk area. Desk sizes usually vary between 600mm to 1000mm deep and are available in widths between 800mm and 2000mm. If standard under desk pedestal drawers are to be used, 1400mm wide desks are the minimum I would recommend to provide adequate leg room. If narrow pedestals are to be used, 1200mm wide desks are the minimum width I would recommend.
A laptop does not require a desk with too many slots. A simple flat top desk is sufficient for the purpose. However, a desktop computer requires proper slots in the desk to accommodate all the computer parts. Make sure the desk can accommodate additional computer accessories like printer. Less space is needed for an all-in-one printer but more space is needed if the printer and scanner are two separate units. If you use a landline phone or fax machine then the desk should have the space or slot for such a device.
